2025 Fortune Global 500 Rankings Revealed: Top Companies by Profit
Fortune China has learned that the 2025 Fortune Global 500 rankings have been released. This year's list features a total of 500 companies, with a combined revenue of $41.7 trillion and a profit of approximately $2.98 trillion, up 0.4% from last year. The threshold for entry onto the list has increased to $322 billion. The top five companies are Walgreens (WMT.US) at number one, Amazon (AMZN.US) at number two, China's State Grid Corporation at number three, Saudi Aramco and China Petroleum (601857.SH) at numbers four and five respectively. In 2024, the total profit of the 500 companies increased by 1.8% year-on-year to a record $3 trillion. Despite a decrease of 13%, Saudi Aramco remained the most profitable company with profits of over $10 billion. Google's parent company, Alphabet, ranked second on the list, surpassing Apple (AAPL.US) as the world's most profitable technology company. NVIDIA (NVDA.US) saw a massive increase in profit by 145% and entered the top ten for the first time, ranking sixth. Microsoft (MSFT.US), Meta Platforms (META.US), and Amazon were among the top five US tech companies on the list. Berkshire Hathaway's profit decreased by 7.5%, but it still ranked fourth on the list with profits of over $889 billion. China Construction Bank (601398.SH) was the only Chinese company to enter the top ten, with profits exceeding $508 billion. China, the US, and Japan were among the countries with the most companies listed. This year, a total of 130 Chinese mainland companies made it onto the list, down three from last year. The number of Japanese companies on the list decreased by two to 38. The top five Chinese mainland companies on the list were Walmart (WMT.US), Amazon (AMZN.US), China's State Grid Corporation, Saudi Aramco and China Petroleum (601857.SH). China's automotive industry saw a significant increase in profits, with BYD ranking sixth on the list. The company's profit increased by 145% year-on-year. The top five Chinese internet companies on the list were JD.com (JD.US), Alibaba Group (BABA.US), Tencent Holdings (0700.HK) and Pinduoduo (PDD.US). The global high-tech industry saw rapid growth, with a total of 34 companies on the list. The average revenue of these companies was $967 billion, while their average profit was $181 billion.
