2026 Asian Games Esports Project Unveiled, China Accounts for Over 9 Seats
2026 Asian Games Esports project final list announced, with a total of 13 games, covering team-based and individual events, including "Pokémon" and "King's Honor". Compared to the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, the scale has expanded significantly, reflecting the rising status of esports.
This time, Chinese games dominated the list, occupying 9 seats, showcasing global competitiveness. Meanwhile, the host country Japan showcased its unique features with 6 indigenous games selected. The event also adjusted projects, adding "Iron Fist 8" and removing "Dota2".
The 2026 Asian Games Esports project will be held from September 19 to October 4, marking the third appearance of esports at the Asian Games, with a gold medal count exceeding two digits for the first time. The diversified game settings will promote the fusion of esports and traditional sports.
Data from Tianyancha Professional Edition shows that as of now, there are over 12.7 million existing and operating esports-related companies in China. Among them, approximately 2.5 million new registrations were added in 2025, with a trend of year-on-year growth, reaching its peak in 2024.
From a regional perspective, Hainan Province, Henan Province, and Hunan Province are the top three regions with the highest number of esports-related companies, respectively exceeding 1.63 million, 1.07 million, and 1 million. Following are Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province.
Moreover, according to Tianyancha's risk and deep-risk analysis, approximately 0.85% of esports-related companies involved in judicial cases.
