360 Publishes Annual Mobile Phone Security Report: 90s Generation Most Vulnerable to Scams
March 16th news, 360 Mobile Guard has jointly released the 2022 China Mobile Phone Security Status Report, and among all types of scams, fake part-time jobs occupy the highest proportion at 28.7%, with male victims accounting for 66.3% of the total, and 90s generation phone scam victims accounting for 37.8% of all victims, becoming the main target of cybercriminal networks.
Currently, 90s generation has gradually become the pillars of families, and according to the age range distribution of victims from the report, 90s generation accounts for the highest proportion at 37.8%, followed by 80s and 00s generations at 27.4% and 24.0%, respectively.
In telecommunications network scams, males are more likely to be targeted and suffer greater losses than females, with the report showing that male victims accounted for 66.3% of all phone scam victims in 2022, while female victims accounted for 33.7%. In terms of average loss, male victims suffered an average loss of ¥47,100, while female victims suffered an average loss of ¥37,180.
Moreover, the 360 Anti-Scam Compensation Treasury received 11 types of scam reports in all of 2022, with a total amount of high-stakes transactions reaching ¥26.65 million. Among these, fake part-time jobs information published through online platforms and home-based work accounted for the highest proportion at 28.7%.
In terms of regional distribution, Shandong Province has become the “epicenter” of scams, accounting for 8.7% of all user reports. Next is Guangdong Province and Henan Province, accounting for 8.5% and 7.2%, respectively. Beijing also reported the most scam cases, accounting for 4.9%, followed by Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Kunming, and Wenzhou.
In addition, the main scenarios of mobile-end scams in 2022 were online shopping refunds, accounting for 53.1%, as well as fake network loans, fake investment and wealth management, pig-killing schemes, and online blackmail, among others.
