The automotive industry is Jilin Province's first pillar industry. In recent years, the province has vigorously implemented the "Automotive Industry" project, not only increasing vehicle production and technological advancements but also accelerating the development of automotive parts industries and spreading to surrounding areas.
Visiting the Changchun Daling Economic Development Zone, workers in the production workshop of Changchun Tianhai Electronics Co., Ltd. are busy producing automotive harnesses. Automotive harnesses are the "nervous network" of vehicles, providing stable power, signal, and data for all electrical devices on board. This company mainly supplies high-voltage harnesss to Jie Fang Red Flag, Jie Fang Bao Ten, and new energy vehicles, with a production capacity of 400,000 sets of automotive wiring harnesses, expected to exceed 700 million yuan in value this year.
The company's deputy general manager, Li Wei, told the reporter that the company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tianhai Automotive Electronics Group Co., Ltd. based in Henan Province, focusing on the "International Automobile City" project in Changchun and providing close support to China JAC Motor Company. The two years have seen stable growth in online harness collaboration with China JAC Motor.
The Prince Bay Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology said that there are over 200 automotive parts manufacturing enterprises in Prince Bay, including 69 above-scale enterprises. Currently, Prince Bay is seizing the opportunities for transforming and upgrading the automotive industry, promoting the development of local parts companies towards new energy, lightweight, and intelligent directions.
In 2020, Jilin Province proposed the construction of the "Changchun International Automobile City", clarifying the building of an automobile industrial circle with Changchun as its core. Today, with Changchun at the center, Shenyang, Liaoyuan, and Jilin cities' automotive parts industries are working together to drive the province's automotive industry cluster.
The transmission system is a key component of automobiles. In Shenyang City, Iron East District, a company from Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, with over 40 years of experience in automotive transmissions, established a subsidiary, Jilin Shibao Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd., 26 years ago, providing commercial vehicle circular ball transmissions, smart electric transmissions, and smart hydraulic transmissions to Jie Fang Red Flag, Jie Fang Bao Ten, and JAC Platform.
The company's general manager, Zhou Yu, told the reporter that the transmission system is becoming a direction for the development of the automotive industry, driven by intelligent driving trends. He revealed that the company has made progress in developing online transmission systems, expected to achieve mass production in 2026.
In Dongliao County, Liaoyuan City, Jilin Shibao Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd.'s production workshop is busy and orderly, with car parts being processed one by one on the production line. "This production line is custom-made for Jie Fang Red Flag E007, with 3 pieces per minute." The company's responsible person, Wang Zhong, said that the company has accepted orders from China JAC Motor for 140 parts of 20 vehicle models, with an estimated total value of over 40 billion yuan in its lifetime.
The company has formed a complete industry chain from upstream equipment research and development to downstream total production, leveraging its proximity to Changchun. "We are deeply integrated into China JAC Motor's supply chain, and our molds have been exported to 26 countries." Wang Zhong said.
In recent years, electric vehicles have become increasingly popular, raising the issue of how to handle used batteries. In Prince Bay, employees at Fuou Intelligent Energy Technology Co., Ltd.'s production workshop are busy processing battery recycling and utilization business. The company has built a recycling service system based on Jie Fang Red Flag's 4S store, driven by big data, IoT, energy management, and technological innovation, focusing on new energy vehicle power batteries' entire life cycle production, operation, and value creation.
The company's ecological operations department head, Qin Guoyi, introduced that the recycled new energy vehicle power batteries will be disassembled, sorted, and used to make corresponding products, such as outdoor power sources, base station backup power, etc. Unusable battery cores will be physically broken down, extracted for elements, and transformed into new batteries, achieving a closed-loop utilization. According to the introduction, Fuou Intelligent Energy Technology Co., Ltd. officially put into operation in 2023, with an output value of over 120 million yuan in 2024.
Changchun City's Industry and Information Technology Bureau vice-bureau chief, Song Shaohong, said that the "Changchun Automobile Cluster" successfully entered the top 10 list of advanced manufacturing clusters in China in 2022. Last year, Changchun's automotive industry cluster output value reached 46.11 billion yuan, further solidifying its pillar industry status. (Reporter Ma Hongchao)
