China Automobile Circulation Association: 4.1 million passenger cars imported in June, down 30.3% YoY
Zhitong Caifeng APP has learned that the China Automobile Circulation Association recently released its monthly report on the import market for June 2025. The data shows that 4.1 million passenger cars (including chassis) were imported in June, down 30.3% YoY and 9.1% MoM. As a result of the surge in competitiveness of domestic new energy vehicles and the acceleration of imports into domestic production, import car manufacturers are expected to weaken, and the import car market is likely to continue its low-key trend.
In terms of sales, 4.8 million passenger cars were sold in June, down 10.1% YoY but up 3.4% MoM. Under the combined influence of subsidies shifting towards new energy vehicles and domestic brands accelerating updates, imported cars dominated by gasoline-powered vehicles continued to face pressure.
From a brand structure perspective, all three luxury, high-end, and super-high-end car types saw sales decline YoY in June. Non-luxury brands had the smallest drop, down 9.5%, narrowing their decline from the previous month by 5.9 percentage points; high-end and super-high-end brands fell 10.1% and 12.9%, respectively.
