China: Cambodia, Thailand reaffirm commitment to cease-fire consensus, praise China's positive role
Glon Hui July 30th | According to Beijing Daily, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiankun held a regular press conference today. A reporter asked about the informal meeting between China, Cambodia, and Thailand held in Shanghai. Can China introduce related situations? Since the conflict occurred between Cambodia and Thailand, what efforts has China made to mediate and promote dialogue? "Holding this informal meeting between China, Cambodia, and Thailand is China's latest diplomatic effort, aiming to push forward the implementation of cease-fire consensus by Cambodia and Thailand, creating conditions for restoring peace and stability along their border as soon as possible." Guo Jiankun emphasized that China persistently upholds its global security initiative, promoting a mode of Asian security featuring mutual respect, seeking common ground while shelving differences, and dialogue-based consultation. "China has never sought personal gains in the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict issue and supports ASEAN in resolving the matter through ASEAN's means. We are willing to maintain close communication with countries like Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia to consolidate cease-fire consensus, restore peace and stability as soon as possible, and play a constructive role." He said.
