China's Response to Ideal i8 and Lihua Truck Collision Test: Randomly Purchasing a Second-Hand Truck as a Mobile Barrier Car! Non-Standards Vehicle-to-Vehicle Collision Testing, Not Related to Other Brands' Safety Performance Evaluation
August 3 evening, the Ideal i8 collision test was conducted by the testing team of China's automotive research institute (601965) and announced a statement claiming that the test project only verified the safety performance of Ideal i8 vehicles, non-standard vehicle-to-vehicle collision testing, not related to other brands' safety performance evaluation. The company followed typical traffic accident scenarios on ordinary highways in China and designed the test plan accordingly, executed by China's automotive research institute's testing team. To set up a traffic accident scene, only the quality of the second-hand truck was chosen as the benchmark, and one was randomly purchased from the market to serve as a mobile barrier car.

According to previous reports, on July 29, Ideal Automobile held a press conference to launch its first pure electric SUV, Ideal i8. The crash test video played at the scene shows that Lihua trucks collided with Ideal i8 without winning. This video quickly spread online and sparked huge controversy.
Subsequently, Dongfeng Liu Zhou Automobile Co., Ltd. responded to the controversy over Ideal's collision test, stating that it was seriously misleading the public and had a significant difference from actual scenarios, reserving the right to pursue legal responsibility.
