Embracing Green Finance: Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank's Journey to Sustainability
August 15th is National Ecological Day, marking a crucial 20-year period since the inception of the "Green Water and Blue Sky" concept, which has led green transformation development. It also marks the 20-year anniversary of Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank's successful transformation and new start. Two "twenty-year" milestones converge at this moment.
When innovative financial tools assist in achieving energy-saving targets, when bank green loans transform into companies' environmental equipment, and ecological benefits are cultivated, such a "company growth - bank development - social benefits" virtuous cycle not only demonstrates the long-term commitment of financial institutions but also embodies the political nature and humanity of financial work.
In Chongming, a stainless steel pot manufacturer with over 40 years of history is writing a story about green transformation. Shanghai Crown Stainless Steel Products Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai Crown") has installed several wind turbines along the riverbank near its factory, which are expected to generate over 4 million kWh of electricity per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 33,000 tons.
Value Co-Creation: The Journey to Green Transformation
"The first time we went to the project site was when there were no roads. We had to walk along a small path beside the riverbank." Song Wei recalled. At that time, the only way to get to the factory was by walking through the mud on the riverbank and passing through fields.
The key long-term loan of 8.4 billion yuan provided by Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank for this wind power project has greatly empowered Shanghai Crown's green transformation. According to reports, after the project is completed, it is expected that over 40 million kWh of electricity will be generated per year, and carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by more than 330,000 tons.
This loan not only saves money but also increases the bank's competitiveness in the market. It has become a model for green finance in Shanghai.
