Fees for Preschool Education Based on What Standard Are Exempted? Ministry of Finance Explains: How Much Publicly Funded Institutions Used to Charge, and Now How Much They Will Be Exempted
Groron News, August 7th|National Press Office held a regular policy briefing at 10 am today, with Vice Minister of Finance Guo Tingting and relevant officials from the Ministry of Education introducing the progress of implementing free preschool education policies and answering reporters' questions.
Vice Minister of Finance Guo Tingting explained that according to the government's opinion, publicly funded institutions will execute the fee standards set by local authorities for preschool education fees. This means that public institutions will charge students based on the same standard as before; for children attending private institutions approved by the education department, the fees will be reduced based on the average level of privately managed institutions in the same area.
For example, a private institution has been approved to charge a monthly fee per student of 800 yuan, while the public institution in the same area charges a fee of 500 yuan. After the policy takes effect, students in larger classes at public institutions will no longer need to pay preschool education fees, and children attending private institutions will only need to pay the difference, which is 300 yuan.
