Intelligent Luxury Off-Road, All-New Tank 500 Smart Enjoyment Edition Unveils "New Era of Off-Roading"

Can off-road vehicles also prioritize intelligence and luxury? Great Wall Motor's Tank brand has given its answer with the all-new Tank 500.

On August 11, at the "New Era of Off-Roading" launch conference, the all-new Tank 500 Smart Enjoyment Edition officially started taking pre-orders. The new car is positioned as a "full-scenario intelligent luxury off-road SUV" and offers two versions, including the Tank 500 Hi4-T Smart Enjoyment Edition and the Tank 500 Hi4-Z Smart Enjoyment Edition, with prices starting at RMB 360,000 and RMB 388,800 respectively. The new car not only inherits the advanced intelligent configurations of NOA, such as lane-keeping assistant and automatic parking, but also provides a 5-reward package worth up to RMB 43,000 during the pre-order period.

From its inception in 1996 as a pickup truck, Great Wall Motor has established itself as the pioneer of off-road vehicles. Looking back on the development history of China's off-road vehicle market, whether it was the era of equal off-roading, high-performance off-roading, or new energy off-roading, Great Wall Motor has always been at the forefront of innovation and technological breakthroughs.

Great Wall Motor has invested over RMB 20 billion in building its Tank platform, from compact SUVs to large-scale SUVs, from 2.0T to 3.0T engines, from gasoline to diesel and new energy, and from strong off-road Hi4-T to general off-road Hi4-Z, providing a rich array of powertrain and performance options.

"Before Tank, our brand's market share was only 32.1%, but now that data has reached 83.5%," said Wang Yu, Vice General Manager of the Tank brand. "It has completely activated the Chinese off-road market and ignited a craze for box-type SUVs."

Today, in this new era of off-roading, the Tank brand is giving its answer once again. In their view, the new era of off-roading not only requires ensuring off-road capabilities while prioritizing luxury and intelligence but also needs to meet the requirements for family full-scenario use, redefine the value boundaries of intelligent luxury off-road SUVs, and highlight Chinese car owners' cultural confidence.

According to reports, the all-new Tank 500 takes its design inspiration from ancient Chinese architecture, borrowing elements such as "dougong" and "danfeng", combining "Zhōngshì Xīn Huá" with a sense of grandeur and vitality, and featuring a new color scheme called "Dūnhuáng Lán".

Regarding "Dūnhuáng Lán", Chairman Wei Jianjun said that it is an innovation from our team, inspired by the colors of Dunhuang murals. "In the past, car color names often had a foreign flavor, but Dūnhuáng Lán embodies our national confidence, industrial confidence, and automotive confidence."

Moreover, the all-new Tank 500 has been upgraded with intelligent technologies. The new car is equipped with Great Wall Motor's third-generation intelligent driving assistance system, Coffee Pilot Ultra, which truly realizes "point-to-point" intelligent driving assistance from start to finish.

SEE's end-to-end big model and on-board high-performance multi-sensor fusion scheme enable full-scenario intelligent driving assistance, whether it is a park within a garden, a city road, a highway, or a rural road, the all-new Tank 500 can seamlessly handle various scenarios without interruption.

Of course, with the significant upgrade of intelligent configurations comes increased safety as its top priority. Vice President Wu Huiqiao emphasized that "human-machine collaboration" is crucial and reiterated three times that the driving assistant's function is to assist and not replace human judgment.

Intelligentization aside, the "refrigerator, TV, sofa" package also joins the all-new Tank 500, further deepening technical innovation. For example, compared to general car refrigerators with a temperature range of 0°C, the all-new Tank 500's 5.4L refrigerator adopts a compressor cooling system, achieving precise temperature control from -6°C to 50°C.

Furthermore, with the Coffee OS 3 smart dashboard system, the all-new Tank 500 features seamless connection across six screens, including a second-row overhead screen that supports six control methods. The "Coffee Air Touch" gesture-controlled system accurately understands the intentions of rear passengers and executes commands.

The entire vehicle is equipped with an 8-layer NAPPA genuine leather seat material, complete with ventilation, heating, and eight massage modes, allowing SUVs to also enjoy MPV-level "first-class" experiences.
