Japan National Tourism Organization: 3.4 Million Tourists Visit Japan in July, a Record High; China Mainland Tourists Reach 9.745 Million!
Glon 8/21|The Japan National Tourism Organization announced on the 20th that the number of tourists visiting Japan in July was 3.43 million, a 4.4% increase from the same period last year. With the increase in Chinese mainland tourists, the total number of tourists visiting Japan reached a record high. From national and regional perspectives, the largest number of tourists came from China Mainland, reaching 9.745 million people. In the first seven months of the year, the proportion of China Mainland tourists in the total number of tourists visiting Japan was 23%.

This year marks an important milestone, with the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. In July, China released movies and other content about the "Nanjing Incident", which involved the Japanese army's large-scale killings of Chinese people during World War II. Concerns have been raised that this could lead to a rise in anti-Japanese sentiment. However, the number of tourists from China Mainland has seen a significant increase in July, and it appears that this has not had a significant impact on tourist numbers.
