Today, JD Auto announced on social platforms that it will halt its marketing campaign for "Shock Price" in response to the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court's ruling that three defendants engaged in unfair competition in promoting activities related to "Shock Price".
JD Auto's relevant responsible person responded, saying, "Unfortunately, our friends think 'Shock Price' has had an impact on them, but 'Shock Price' is just a name and won't affect JD Auto's commitment to providing excellent and affordable car maintenance experiences. To resolve this issue, JD Auto will launch a 50 billion subsidy activity and online shopping service, and invite the public to suggest a new name for the campaign, with the highest reward being iCAR V23 car usage rights."
Public reports show that JD Auto launched "Shock Price" activities in September 2023, offering a large number of subsidies on goods or services. In response, Tuhu Auto also rolled out similar activities. By the end of 2023, Tuhu Auto sued JD Auto for damages to its reputation due to "Shock Price". JD Auto argued that "JD Thunder" and "JD Auto Thunder" are registered trademarks, and "Shock Price" does not target any specific company.
In the face of this halt on "Shock Price", JD Auto responded that the original purpose of the activity was to address issues such as lack of protection for car owners, unclear prices, and poor services in the aftermarket. The goal was to provide a better and more affordable car maintenance experience with industry partners, but unfortunately, it has led to misunderstandings.
"Although we have registered trademarks for 'JD Thunder' and 'JD Auto Thunder', we also want to ask everyone's help in suggesting a new name to avoid further misinterpretations," JD Auto's responsible person said.
