Jingdong: Resolutely Eliminate Unfair Competition Resist "0-Price" and Other Malignant Subsidies
August 1, Jingdong published a statement titled "_践行主体责任和社会责任 共建外卖行业健康生态_", stating that Jingdong's delivery service will continue to uphold the principle of "anti-inflation" and resolutely eliminate unfair competition, resist "0-price" and other malignant subsidies, and not use order volume to demonstrate market position or create market bubbles. We will set up a simple and transparent subsidy mechanism, lawfully disclose marketing activity information to merchants and consumers, allowing merchants to independently operate and participate in promotional activities. On the same day, Ele.me, Meituan, and Taobao Flash Sale jointly issued a statement calling for resistance against "malignant competition".
Recently, the subsidies in the delivery industry have attracted widespread attention from society, with many industry associations and merchants speaking out, hoping to stop "0-price" and other inflationary promotional behaviors, build a good industry ecosystem, and achieve sustainable development that benefits all parties. We commit to:
One, standardize subsidy behavior. Jingdong's delivery service will continue to uphold the anti-inflation principle, resolutely eliminate unfair competition, resist "0-price" and other malignant subsidies, and not use order volume to demonstrate market position or create market bubbles. We will set up a simple and transparent subsidy mechanism, lawfully disclose marketing activity information to merchants and consumers, allowing merchants to independently operate and participate in promotional activities.
Two, resist malignant competition. By building differentiated features, improving service quality, and focusing on product positioning, we will create core competitiveness through technology empowerment, supply chain innovation, and product pricing, winning user recognition and creating long-term value. This will drive the industry to return from "comparing subsidies" to "comparing product quality" and "comparing services".
Three, improve service quality. We will adhere to the bottom line of food safety and sincerity in business operations, continuously create a high-quality consumer experience. Actively promote anti-food waste work by placing "please order appropriately, environmental protection and health" promotional language on the store's homepage announcement, as well as "order accordingly" prompts on ordering, settlement, and order pages, forming a whole-chain reminder to eliminate inducing excessive ordering.
Four, promote mutual benefit. Provide commission incentives, advertising incentives, traffic support, delivery fee subsidies, and exclusive after-sales services to help good merchants better operate; optimize rider protection, improve the professional dignity and sense of gain for couriers. Co-create a mutually beneficial ecosystem and positive cycle among consumers, merchants, couriers, and platforms.
