Manus Launches Multi-Thread AI Collaborative Research Function, "Wide Research" Top-Tier Subscription $199/month
We have learned from sources close to the matter that Manus, a Chinese startup, will soon launch its signature artificial intelligence platform's largest-scale feature upgrade since its March online debut. The new function, dubbed "Wide Research," will enable deployment of dozens of collaborative AI agents to process massive data sets simultaneously, significantly enhancing complex task processing capabilities.
Sources familiar with the matter reveal that Wide Research has an advantage over similar tools like OpenAI's Deep Research in handling multi-threaded tasks. Typical use cases include batch generation of 50 design proposals, systematic ranking of global top MBA courses, or simultaneous analysis of over a thousand stock data sets. However, market validation is yet to be seen, and Manus' spokesperson has not responded to email requests for comments.
Last March, Manus previewed its "General AI Agent" product, showcasing its ability to execute cross-scenario network tasks from resume screening to travel planning. The following month, the company completed a $75 million funding round led by Benchmark, which prompted competitors like ByteDance and MiniMax to accelerate their AI agent field deployments. In June, Manus added AI video generation capabilities to its existing products.
An anonymous source reveals that Manus' technology team has been concentrating on developing Wide Research over the past two months, aiming to differentiate itself through unique features and solidify its market position. Co-founder Qi Feng plans to showcase the new function via a video demonstration, continuing the company's initial product launch strategy.
The company has already completed its business shift and relocated its main operations to Singapore, Tokyo, and Santa Clara, California, with products yet to be launched in China. Its technical architecture is based on Anthropic's Claude large-scale language models, early investors including Tencent Holdings, HSG (formerly Redpoint Ventures), and True Ventures.
Despite facing challenges, Manus still showcases strong development potential. Its product has been listed on Microsoft Store, demonstrating international recognition. Additionally, Manus is recruiting AI engineers, data scientists, and other high-end talent positions in Singapore, offering competitive salaries to attract international top talent.
From industry trends, the AI Agent market is experiencing unprecedented growth. According to authoritative predictions, the global AI Agent market will form a competitive landscape represented by Manus and Genspark. As technology continues to advance and the market matures, AI Agents are expected to commercialize in more fields, bringing more convenient and efficient services to businesses and individuals.
