A reporter asked about the progress in dealing with Japanese abandoned chemical weapons and what concerns and requirements China has. Guo Jiaqun stated that Japan's abandonment of chemical weapons in China is one of the serious war crimes committed by Japanese militarism during the invasion of China. China has always urged Japan to strictly follow the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the provisions of the bilateral memoranda between China and Japan, and to complete the destruction of Japanese abandoned chemical weapons as soon as possible. Guo Jiaqun introduced that, up to now, Japan has recovered and destroyed over 560,000 rounds of abandoned chemical weapons, but the processing progress is seriously lagging behind. China urges Japan to take a serious attitude towards the concerns of China and the international community, deeply reflect on its war crimes, fulfill its commitments, and increase investment in all aspects to accelerate the processing progress of Japanese abandoned chemical weapons, and restore justice to the international community.
