Mobile Game Market Revenue in China Drops 8% from January to June
Recently, the Game Publishing Committee and the Game Industry Research Expert Committee published the "China Game Industry Report".
The report shows that China's game market actual sales revenue reached CNY 1.680 trillion in the first half of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 14.08%, setting a new high record.
At the same time, the number of game users approached 679 million, a year-on-year increase of 0.72%, also reaching a historical high point.
From January to June in 2025, domestic market actual sales revenue for self-developed games reached CNY 1.40452 billion, a year-on-year increase of 19.25%. Overseas market actual sales revenue for self-developed games reached USD 950.01 million, a year-on-year increase of 11.07%.
From January to June in 2025, self-developed mobile game overseas market actual sales revenue distribution shows that the United States accounted for 31.96%, Japan accounted for 16.20%, South Korea accounted for 7.47%, and these three countries remained the main target markets, accounting for a total of 55.63%. In addition, Germany, the UK, and France accounted for a total of 8.78%, and Europe remains an important region for China's game exports.
In terms of market segmentation, mobile games saw actual sales revenue increase year-on-year, accounting for 74.59%; client-side games saw actual sales revenue continue to rise, accounting for 21.07%; and web-based games accounted for 1.31%.
From January to June in 2025, China's electronic sports game market actual sales revenue reached CNY 806.45 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.64%.
From January to June in 2025, the mobile game market actual sales revenue in China reached CNY 145.77 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 8.00%.
