National Health Commission Responds to One-Child Inclusion in Childcare Subsidies: One-Child Family is the Foundation of Family Birth! In China, more than half of newborns are one-child families.
Globo News July 30th | The National Development and Reform Commission held a press conference to introduce childcare subsidies and fertility support measures. Wang Haide, Director of the Population and Family Department of the National Health Commission, stated at the meeting that the national childcare subsidy system will include one-child families in its coverage range, considering two main aspects: first, one-child families are the main body of childcare families. In China, more than half of newborns are one-child families, so including one-child families in subsidies will achieve a comprehensive and all-encompassing coverage of childcare families; second, childbirth is a major event for a family. Giving birth to one child is the starting point and foundation of family birth, and it's a critical stage that particularly needs support. Therefore, providing childcare subsidies to one-child families can improve their fertility experience, alleviate their parenting pressure, and benefit their consideration for having another child.
