Notable Expansion in China's Power Generation Capacity, with Over 545,000 New Power Companies Added
Cumulative power generation capacity in China reached 36.5 billion kilowatts as of June, a year-on-year increase of 18.7%, demonstrating the robust development of the country's power industry. This growth not only reflects the expansion of the power sector as a whole but also provides a solid energy guarantee for economic and social stability.
Among various types of power generation equipment, solar power and wind power stood out particularly well. Solar power capacity reached 11.0 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 54.2%, while wind power capacity hit 5.7 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 22.7%. These two sources of clean energy surged ahead of the overall pace, reflecting the strong momentum behind China's development of clean energy.
Looking at new installations, China added 29332 million kilowatts of power generation capacity from January to June this year. Among these, solar power added 21221 million kilowatts and wind power added 5139 million kilowatts, making them the main driving force behind new installations and further optimizing China's energy structure, pushing forward the transition towards green and low-carbon energy.
Data from Tianyan Check Professional Edition shows that as of now, there are over 480.9 million power-related companies in operation in China. Among these, approximately 54.5 million new companies were registered by the end of 2024, a trend that has been steadily increasing over the past five years and reached its peak in 2024 at over 79.4 million.
From a regional perspective, Guangdong Province, Shandong Province, and Jiangsu Province led the way in terms of power-related companies, with numbers standing at over 54.8 million, 46.2 million, and 42 million respectively.
In addition, according to Tianyan Check's risk and deep-risk data, approximately 4.01% of power-related companies were involved in judicial cases.
