NVIDIA Reiterates No Backdoor in Chips! Yuanyuan's View: Further Actions Needed to Confirm
Globo 8/11|Yuanyuan's View, a sub-flagship of CCTV, published an article stating that after yesterday's revelation of possible backdoors in H20 chips, NVIDIA responded by emphasizing the importance of network security. NVIDIA's chips have no backdoors and will not allow anyone to remotely access or control them.
The article points out that according to Yuanyuan's View, since July 31 when the National Internet Information Office interviewed NVIDIA regarding H20 chip vulnerability risks, NVIDIA has made three similar responses, all stressing the importance of network security and denying any backdoors in their chips. Such responses require NVIDIA to take further actions to confirm. During the interview with the National Internet Information Office, it also asked NVIDIA to submit relevant proof materials.
Regarding the recent H20 chip backdoor issue, Yuanyuan's View found that the US has previously conducted a systematic analysis on AI chips with backdoors. The US authorities specifically mentioned that if companies cooperate with them to secure backdoors, they can be excluded from export controls, including relaxing restrictions on low-risk Chinese customers.
