Phoenix News Tech - July 31, Qualcomm held a Snapdragon game technology showcase in Shanghai, partnering with OnePlus, Tencent, Epic Games, and other mobile manufacturers to demonstrate the latest advancements in mobile gaming. The company shared its plans for the Snapdragon theme pavilion at ChinaJoy.
Qualcomm's Global Vice President of Technology, Hou Mingjuan, revealed that this year's ChinaJoy will feature a "Whole Chip Passion" theme with 75 partner companies.
According to reports, the Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform currently supports 184 product designs, covering high-end Android gaming devices. The platform has been selected by iQOO phones as the official machine for KPL matches, with both parties working together on technical cooperation in areas such as touch response, heat dissipation, and network optimization.
In terms of AI applications, Snapdragon NPU can be used to realize real-time facial expression capture in some games. This technology uses player real-time facial expressions to drive game character expressions, create AI teammates, and provide combat assistance suggestions. Additionally, Android handheld devices such as AYANEO Pocket S2 with the third-generation Snapdragon G3 gaming platform will be available for open testing at ChinaJoy.
In terms of technology optimization, Qualcomm's Adreno image motion engine 2.0 is an AI-enabled tool that uses motion vectors, depth information, transformation matrices, and 3D information to analyze continuous frames and track object movement trajectories, enhancing game frame rates, reducing latency, and improving visual smoothness. This helps games like "Ning Tides" achieve higher frame rates and energy efficiency.
Qualcomm announced its collaboration with Tencent Games to deploy Snapdragon adaptive gaming quality for the mobile version of "League of Legends". Through deep optimization of CPU and GPU, the game's internal performance is optimized. Qualcomm also released information about its self-adaptive performance engine 4.0, which works in conjunction with the company's self-adaptive performance engine 4.0 to intelligently allocate resources and enhance performance while extending battery life.
Tencent Interactive Entertainment's League of Legends mobile client technical director, Ding Bo, stated that Snapdragon adaptive gaming quality technology has helped "League of Legends" achieve excellent balance between performance and energy efficiency. At the highest quality level, the game can maintain a stable 120 frames per second while reducing power consumption by 16.36%, providing players with a more prolonged experience.
In addition, Qualcomm's Game Super Resolution 2.0 is using high-performance, high-quality supersampling technology to significantly improve performance and visual clarity. This technology can render at lower native resolutions and then use game 3D information-based supersampling to enhance image quality, reducing GPU load and achieving longer, higher-quality gaming experiences. During the event, Qualcomm introduced its collaboration with OP Games, integrating this feature into the richly visual open-world mobile game "Unlimited Warmth". Senior engine expert Zhou Yuhuan stated that Qualcomm and OP Games have conducted in-depth cooperation to optimize "Unlimited Warmth" using Snapdragon Game Super Resolution 2.0 technology, resulting in clearer, more detailed image quality, better performance, and a comprehensive enhancement of the gaming experience.
Currently, the Snapdragon ecosystem supports over 1,200 games on PCs. Terminals equipped with Qualcomm's X-series platforms will soon support Easy Anti-Cheat, further ensuring cross-platform competitive gaming experiences and enhancing compatibility and support for devices running Snapdragon platforms.
