Two star companies, Starstone (688775.SH) and DJI, are gearing up to compete in each other's backyard. On July 28th, Starstone announced its entry into the drone market, unveiling the Antigravity full-spectrum drone brand.
According to Starstone, the Antigravity team consists of members from global imaging and tech companies, with a wealth of industry experience. The first product in this new line is a "full-spectrum" drone that can capture K-panoramic videos, weighing less than 249g. It will be available for testing starting August.
On July 29th, Starstone's founder, Liu Jing Kang, shared his thoughts on the company's decision to enter the drone market in a social media post, citing two main reasons. Firstly, there is a huge demand from customers that has not been met, which will lead to increased market growth; secondly, he believes that this new business will drive the company's growth and enhance its core competencies.
Starstone's move was widely seen as a counterattack against DJI. On July 24th, DJI announced the release of its full-spectrum camera product, "Osmo 360", which will officially launch on August 31st.
Regardless of the cause, it is clear that a fierce battle has begun.
