Summer Box Office Smashes Daily Record of Over 37 Billion CNY! Over 92,000 Film-Related Enterprises Nationwide
August 2nd, this summer's box office record has been broken, with a single-day total exceeding 37 billion CNY.
At the same time, as of now, the total box office for the 2025 summer film season (June-August) has surpassed 67 billion CNY, including pre-sales. The war-themed film "South Shanghai Studio" continues to lead the box office rankings, with a cumulative total of over 13 billion CNY and currently ranking fourth in the annual box office rankings.
This summer's film lineup is diverse and rich, with over 60 domestic and foreign films scheduled to be released. Domestic comedies, thrillers, and animations are particularly popular. In August, the animated film "Lanlan Mountain Little Monsters" will be released, featuring a core concept of "Monster Office Survival Story" that combines traditional culture with modern workplace philosophy.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of Japan's defeat in World War II. In addition to the already released "South Shanghai Studio", two more films, "Dongji Island" and "Mountain River as Evidence", will be released on the big screen in August. "Dongji Island" is based on a true historical event, while "Mountain River as Evidence" presents a panoramic view of the 14-year war process using digital restoration to recreate history.
Data from Tianyan's professional version shows that, as of now, there are over 92,000 film-related enterprises in operation or under development in China. Among them, approximately 11,000 new registrations were added this year alone, with the number of registered film-related enterprises showing a steady upward trend over the past five years, except for a slight decline in 2022.
From a regional perspective, Beijing and Guangdong provinces have the largest number of film-related enterprises, accounting for over 23% of the total. The next three provinces are Shandong, Jiangsu, and Sichuan.
In addition, according to Tianyan's risk and deep-risk data, film-related enterprises involved in judicial cases account for approximately 6.77% of the total.
