Taobao Flash Sale: Over 300,000 Restaurants Achieve Record-Breaking Transactions on August 7th!
Sina Tech News, Aug. 11, morning news, Taobao Flash Sale and Ele.me latest data show that on August 7th, over 300,000 restaurants achieved record-breaking transactions on the Taobao Flash Sale platform, with Ele.me riders reaching 3.5 times last year's number and average income increasing to 1.4 times last year.
The "First Cup of Milk Tea in Autumn" ignited a new round of consumer enthusiasm. On the Taobao Flash Sale platform, lemon tea surpassed pearl milk tea for the first time, ranking as the most popular single product. The overall surge in various categories also brought substantial new customers to merchants, with tea-based merchant new customer growth reaching 255%.
On the Taobao Flash Sale platform, the "Autumn Milk Tea" activity order growth top 20 cities, with third- and fourth-tier cities occupying 18 seats. The top 5 cities with the highest growth rates were Chengde, Huainan, Huaibei, Wuhu, and Chuzhou; meanwhile, the top 10 single-store sales nationwide included 4 stores from Zhejiang Province, Jilin Province, Jiangxi Province, and Guangdong Province.
Tea-based orders also drove up food and non-food product sales, enabling small and medium-sized merchants to increase their revenue. On August 7th, over 30,000 restaurants achieved record-breaking transactions on the Taobao Flash Sale platform, while over 80,000 non-food stores saw transaction growth exceeding 100%.
Non-food businesses have also expanded their business scope continuously. According to Taobao Flash Sale's 7-month data, by July-end, there were 1,089 non-food stores with monthly transactions exceeding RMB 10,000 and 395 non-food brands with monthly transactions exceeding RMB 100,000.
Data shows that since Taobao Flash Sale went online, as of July-end, the total number of riders has grown by 181%, with crowd-sourced riders growing by 236%. Meanwhile, the number of riders earning over RMB 1,000 in a single month increased by 184% compared to last year.
