Upgraded Student Booking and Ticketing Services on 12306 Mobile App to Launch on August 1
China Economic Net, Beijing, Aug. 1 (Reporter: Teng Mingbiao) - Reporters from the Railway 12306 Innovation Center learned that starting from August 1, 2025, the Railway 12306 mobile app will upgrade its student booking and ticketing services, setting up a dedicated "Student Booking and Ticketing" zone to ensure convenient travel for students.
According to relevant personnel at the Railway 12306 Innovation Center, as schools enter the new semester, students will gradually return or start their studies. To better serve student travelers, Railway 12306 has further optimized its system functions based on past experiences and will continue to roll out this service from August 1 onwards, in line with the "Railway Passenger Transportation Regulations" of China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. Students who meet the conditions can purchase tickets through this service, including those about to start their studies or currently enrolled students.
The Railway 12306 mobile app will set up a dedicated "Student Booking and Ticketing" zone. For new students, after completing real-name registration and filling out student privilege-related information, they can choose the "New Student" option to book tickets from August 1 to September 5; in-campus students who have completed real-name registration, identity verification, and privilege verification can directly book tickets within this zone.
Students who meet the conditions can submit their booking requests up to 20 days before departure and up to 17 days before departure for each trip. Each account can simultaneously submit three orders, with a maximum of five "train numbers + seat types" combinations per order. Students can choose seats from hard seat, hard sleeper, or second-class seat, which are applicable to student privilege tickets.
For in-campus students, the maximum number of bookings is nine people including themselves; for new students, it's three people including themselves. The travel companions can be anyone.
The mobile app will notify passengers through SMS at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm one day before departure when their booking orders are confirmed. Passengers must pay for their tickets by 11:59 pm the same day; if payment is not made on time, the order will be automatically cancelled.
The responsible person stated that the railway department will widely solicit passenger opinions and continuously optimize system functions to provide more convenient and efficient ticketing services for passengers.
