Younger Generation's Growing Demand for TCM and Massage Services: 649 Brands See Transactions Grow Over 100%
China Economic Net, August 7. As the summer heat peaks, people are flocking to massage parlors and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) services for relief. According to a report released by Meituan Leisure and Entertainment on August 7, since July, online searches related to "summer rejuvenation" have increased by over 99%. The demand for TCM and massage services has also surged, with younger users becoming the new drivers of growth in this industry.
As the summer heat intensifies, more and more young people are seeking relaxation and rejuvenation through TCM and massage services. Meituan's data shows that users aged 25-35 account for nearly half of all bookings. This trend is driven by younger generations' increasing awareness of health and wellness.
Meituan's report highlights the growing popularity of "extreme simplification" (极简养生) services, such as no-human-assisted massage chairs, which have become a hit among young people. This trend is expected to continue, with Meituan predicting that the service will see further growth in the coming years.
Meituan's CEO, Wang Pu, stated at a recent industry conference that "demand-side digitalization has been completed, and over the next five years, we expect to see accelerated digitalization" in the service retail sector. Meituan is committed to leveraging its technology to create more diverse and flexible services, catering to changing consumer needs.
