Zhang Chenggang: US and China to Continue Promoting Resumed 24% Countermeasures and Chinese Retaliation Measures as Scheduled
Xinhua News Agency, Stockholm, July 29 (Reporter Xie Xiuyao, Zhu Haochen) Zhang Chenggang, the Chinese vice-minister of commerce and chief negotiator for international trade talks, said on July 29 that according to the consensus reached during the latest US-China economic and trade consultations, both sides will continue to promote the resumed 24% countermeasures and Chinese retaliation measures as scheduled.
From July 28 to 29, the US-China economic teams held a new round of talks in Stockholm. Zhang Chenggang told the media after the meeting that over the past day and a half, both sides have faithfully implemented the important consensus reached by their leaders on June 5, fully utilized the China-US trade negotiation mechanism, and had candid, in-depth, and constructive exchanges on key economic issues.
"Both sides fully recognize the importance of maintaining a stable and healthy US-China economic relationship."
Zhang Chenggang said that during the talks, both sides exchanged views on each other's macroeconomic policies, reviewed the consensus reached at the Geneva trade talks and the implementation of the London framework, and gave due recognition. "The China-US economic teams will continue to maintain close communication, exchange views on economic issues in a timely manner, and continue to promote the stable and healthy development of bilateral economic relations."
Zhang Chenggang also expressed gratitude to Sweden for providing convenience and support for this round of talks.
