American Online Retailer Amazon (AMZN.US) Halts Advertisements on Google Shopping
It has been learned by Zhongtong Financial App that Amazon (AMZN.US) has stopped placing advertisements on Google Shopping, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL.US). According to reports, ad buyers would often see Amazon's name through monitoring tools such as "Auction Insights" – an analysis tool that allows them to view the top ten advertisers and their exposure share in the auction environment. However, according to Smarter Ecommerce's digital commerce insights manager Mike Ryan, since last week, Amazon's name has disappeared from Auction Insights, indicating that Amazon has exited Google Shopping's ad auction.
MRS Digital Performance Manager John Burton stated, "All signs indicate that (Amazon) has completely stopped their ad investment on Google Shopping." MRS Digital Research Manager Mark Ballard added, "According to the latest data from Google as of July 23rd, it appears that Amazon has fully exited Google Shopping's ad auction, which is the first time this has happened since the early days of the pandemic in 2020."
