BMW Half-Year Report: Electrification Ratio Exceeds 1/4, Personalized Vehicle Models Stand Out, BMW's First Half Performance Strong
Today, the BMW Group announced its sales data for the first half of 2025. In the first half of the year, the global sales volume of the BMW Group maintained a steady trend, with high-end and personalized brands performing well. Additionally, the BMW Group continues to drive electrification transformation, with an electrified ratio exceeding 1/4 globally in the first half of the year, verifying the effectiveness and foresight of the BMW Group's multi-brand and multi-technology strategy.
BMW Group Chairman Harald Krügner said: "The performance in the first half of 2025 again demonstrates the strong resilience of our business model. Regardless of whether it is now or in the future, the BMW Group's success is built on three pillars: globalized deployment, innovative capabilities, and reliance on highly attractive products to build an open technology route."
Overall, in a complex international trade environment, the BMW Group's global sales volume exceeded 1.2 million units, with a year-on-year increase of basically the same as last year. Among them, high-end and personalized brands such as BMW M, Rolls-Royce, MINI, etc. performed well, showcasing the advantages of the BMW Group's diversified layout.
In the first half of the year, the BMW M brand achieved its best-ever sales performance in a single period, with a cumulative delivery volume exceeding 106,000 units, up 6.5% year-on-year. MINI global sales surged by over 17%. Rolls-Royce's second-quarter delivery volume increased by 9.4%, highlighting its appeal in the super-luxury niche market.
Electrification is another key pillar of the BMW Group, which has entered the results phase. In the first half of the year, the BMW Group's electrified vehicles (including BEV/PHEV) achieved a year-on-year increase of 18.6%, accounting for more than 1/4 of the total sales volume. By the end of the second quarter, the BMW Group had cumulatively delivered over 150,000 pure electric vehicles since the launch of i3 in 2013.
Among them, MINI has become a benchmark for electrification transformation. In the first half of the year, electric vehicles accounted for 34.3% of MINI's sales volume, with new models such as the electric MINI Aceman driving MINI's global sales growth of 17.4%
Looking ahead to the future, the continuous landing of new-generation vehicles will inject new vitality into the BMW Group's development. In the first half of the year, the BMW Group invested over €4 billion in research and development, focusing on new-generation technology clusters and continuously investing in new-generation platforms for a cumulative delivery volume exceeding 9 million units by the end of the year.
Krügner said: "In September this year, with the launch of the first-generation model at the Munich International Automobile Exhibition, BMW will mark a new era. Starting from the first-generation model BMW iX3, we are launching a wave of unprecedented product attacks: by 2027, we will have launched over 40 new and revised models, covering all niche markets and driving types. Each vehicle will integrate new-generation innovative technology clusters and new design languages, allowing us to closely combine technological innovation, products, strategies, and business development."
