Cathay Pacific: Spends $8.1 Billion to Purchase 14 Boeing 777-9 Aircraft, Marks First Deal with Boeing in Over a Decade
Glocom News August 6 | Cathay Pacific Limited announced that it will spend $8.1 billion to purchase 14 Boeing aircraft produced by the company's 777-9 type, which is its first transaction with this American aircraft manufacturer in over a decade. The company stated in a statement that it has the right to purchase an additional 7 aircraft. Media reported on this transaction earlier in the week. It is expected that these aircraft will be delivered in 2034. Cathay Pacific announced this news at the same time as reporting its first-half profits, citing strong demand for air travel. As of June 30, the company's net profit was approximately HK$37 billion (approximately $4.71 billion), a 1.1% increase from last year; revenue increased by 9.5%, reaching HK$543 billion.
