Huawei Publishes "Vehicle Formation" Patent to Enhance Intelligent Driving Safety

The release of this patent aims to reduce the delay problem in intelligent driving processes and further improve the safety of intelligent driving.

The patent application number is CN202410164781.1, submitted on February 2, 2024, and published on August 5, 2025. The main focus of this patent is on vehicle formation technology, which can effectively improve the utilization rate of traffic roads and safety. By applying this method in a multi-device environment, including multiple terminal devices, each terminal device corresponds to one or more vehicles in the fleet. The first terminal device detects the red light at an intersection and determines the target formation plan based on information about the surrounding road conditions. Then, it controls the movement of multiple vehicles in the fleet according to the target formation plan.

The information about the road conditions includes the remaining green time for the traffic lane, lane information, and obstacle information. The target formation plan includes the desired formation shape and vehicle movement information. This allows the first terminal device in a multi-device environment to fully utilize the road space and manage the vehicles in the fleet, while keeping delays low and ensuring the safety of vehicle movements.
