Multiple Carmakers Achieve New Highs in July Deliveries New Force Camp Market Segmentation

Multiple carmakers have released their July delivery results. The list includes XPeng Automobiles, Li Auto, Xiaomi Automobiles, and others that achieved record highs in terms of monthly sales.
"Breaking through" has become a key word for the delivery results. For example, Li Auto announced that it delivered 50,129 vehicles in July, with a year-on-year growth rate exceeding 126%, and its monthly sales reached over 50,000 units for the first time. Looking back at June's performance, Li Auto's total deliveries stood at 48,000 units, with a year-on-year growth rate of over 138%.
Xiaomi Group founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun posted on social media on August 1 that Xiaomi Automobiles delivered more than 30,000 vehicles in July. Prior to this, Lei Jun announced at the milestone of delivering 200,000 vehicles that Xiaomi Automobiles' production capacity was continuously increasing, and the company had adjusted its full-year delivery target to 350,000 units.
Another example is BYD, which has maintained a growth trend in sales. According to BYD's announcement, it delivered 344,300 vehicles in July, with last year's same period sales reaching 342,400 units. Among them, passenger vehicle sales reached 341,000 units, pure electric passenger vehicle sales reached 177,900 units, and plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicle sales reached 163,100 units.
Great Wall Motors also reported a growth trend in sales. According to Great Wall Motors' announcement on August 1, the company delivered 104,400 vehicles in July, with a year-on-year growth rate of 14.34%.
However, some new force carmakers have seen their monthly delivery numbers drop. On August 1, Ideal Automobiles announced that it delivered 30,731 vehicles in July, down 39.74% from the previous year. As of July 31, the company's total historical cumulative deliveries stood at 13,685,000 units.
Other carmakers have also released their delivery results. For example, Ora has announced that it delivered 21,017 vehicles in July, with a year-on-year growth rate of 14.34%. Among them, the Ora brand delivered 12,675 units, the Lark brand delivered 5,976 units, and the Firefly brand delivered 2,366 units. According to reports, the Ora L90 model officially went on sale on July 31, with a starting price of ¥265,800 for the big six-seater and ¥179,800 for the big seven-seater.
Traditional carmakers have also established new energy brands. For example, Dongfeng Automobiles' Luntai brand delivered 12,135 vehicles in July, with a year-on-year growth rate of 102%. Changan Automobiles' Avita brand delivered 10,062 vehicles, and SAIC's Zhijie Automobiles delivered 7,027 units.
According to Geely Automobiles' announcement, the company delivered 237,700 vehicles in July, with a year-on-year growth rate of 58%. Among them, the Lingke brand delivered 9.5 million units, the Jingkai brand delivered 1.7 million units, and the Lingke brand delivered 2.72 million units. From the perspective of power types, pure electric vehicles sold 9 million units, with a year-on-year growth rate of 192%. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles sold 4.01 million units, with a year-on-year growth rate of 42%. Additionally, exports reached 3.53 million units, with a year-on-year growth rate of 6%.
"Recently, the 'anti-concentration' action has been rapidly pushed forward in the auto industry, and the industry order has improved significantly." The Passenger Car Association previously stated that due to the launch of the "old-for-new" policy in July 2024, this year's sales baseline will be relatively high. According to the Passenger Car Association's preliminary calculations, the narrow definition of passenger car retail market in July was approximately 1.85 million units, with a year-on-year growth rate of 7.6%, and a month-over-month decline of 11.2%. Among them, new energy retail is expected to reach around 101 million units, with a penetration rate of around 54.6%.
