OpenAI Reveals Major Details: Musk Once Tried to Acquire Company with Zuckerberg
Zuckerberg
According to a court filing from OpenAI, Elon Musk once attempted to enlist Mark Zuckerberg's participation in its acquisition plan for the company this year.
OpenAI claims that Musk considered Zuckerbeg as one of the individuals who might provide financing for his acquisition of OpenAI. However, OpenAI stated in the court filing that Zuckerberg and Meta did not sign any intent to acquire and did not participate in the $974 billion acquisition plan. The OpenAI board had formally rejected Musk's acquisition proposal in February this year.
OpenAI requested a court order for Meta to submit all communication records related to Musk on Thursday.
Meta urged the court to reject OpenAI's request, stating that "Meta's files do not contain any evidence of coordination with Musk. They also do not show that Meta tried to acquire OpenAI or contain other relevant information because Meta was not involved in Musk's acquisition plan." Meta added.
Meta further stated that even if there are communication records with participating bidders, the relevance is negligible. Moreover, such evidence should be sought from actual participants rather than Meta, which did not participate in the transaction.
As of publication, Musk and his representatives have not responded to requests for comment. Meta declined to comment. OpenAI refused to comment further outside of court filings (Author/ Xiao Yu)
