Travel Platforms Summoned by Guizhou Market Supervision Administration for Price Regulation
Decisively Stop Price Anomalies.
According to a message from the Guizhou Province Market Supervision Administration, on August 5th afternoon, the administration summoned five travel platform enterprises, including Ctrip, Tuniu, Douyin, Meituan, and FeiXiang, for a meeting. The administration required these platform enterprises to strictly comply with laws such as the Price Law of the People's Republic of China, the Anti-Monopoly Law of the People's Republic of China, and the Provision on Truthful Pricing and Prohibition of Price Fraud. The administration demanded that these platform enterprises take measures to prevent price irregularities, maintain fair competition, and uphold the principles of honesty and integrity.
During the meeting, the Guizhou Province Market Supervision Administration pointed out that some platform enterprises may have problems such as implementing "take-it-or-leave-it" pricing, using technical means to interfere with merchants' pricing, or canceling orders after they are confirmed. The administration further warned these enterprises of potential legal risks and demanded that they strictly comply with relevant laws, actively fulfill their responsibilities as platform entities, and strengthen self-regulation and compliance construction.
Going forward, the Guizhou Province Market Supervision Administration will closely monitor the competitive situation among relevant platform enterprises. It will take strict enforcement actions against any enterprise that violates the law or fails to correct its problems. The administration will also publicly expose typical cases and create a powerful deterrent effect to maintain good order in the Guizhou tourism market and protect consumers' legitimate rights.
It's worth noting that recently, the Guizhou Province Market Supervision Administration held a conference on regulating the tourism industry's price order. The meeting was attended by multiple travel industry associations within the province, which launched an initiative to maintain fair prices during the "summer vacation" season.
The Guizhou Tourism Association and the Guilin City Tourism Industry Association proposed that each business operator should strengthen their self-regulation, independently set market-regulating prices in accordance with the principles of fairness, legality, and honesty. In response to temporary price hikes and "dual-pricing" issues in the accommodation and dining sectors, the Guizhou Innkeepers' Association and the Guizhou Restaurant Industry Association jointly issued a Declaration on Regulating Prices, requiring industry operators to strictly comply with laws and regulations, clearly mark prices at their business establishments or service settlement pages, and prevent deceptive pricing practices.
The Guizhou Consumer Council appealed to consumers and businesses, reminding consumers to pay attention to price information when selecting accommodations and dining options. Businesses were required to strictly implement the principle of truthful pricing and regulate their prices fairly, jointly creating an honest and fair environment for tourism during the "summer vacation" season.
Prior to this, on July 31st, the Guizhou Province Market Supervision Administration also issued a Reminder Notice, requiring all accommodation businesses and third-party platform operators to strictly comply with price regulations and laws. The notice demanded that these businesses establish reasonable prices for their services, operate honestly, and refrain from disrupting the normal pricing order in the accommodation market.
The administration also emphasized that any business operator found violating the principle of truthful pricing would be subject to a fine of no more than 5,000 yuan. If an enterprise's violation is severe or constitutes price fraud, it may face fines of up to 500,000 yuan for engaging in collusive pricing practices.
