Unveiling the First All-Electric SUV ideal i8: Can it withstood a 4-tonne truck crashing on it? Netizens suggest: Let the truck buy an i8 to crash test, live-streaming it online.
Sina Technology News, July 31 evening, Ideal Automobile recently released its first all-electric SUV, Ideal i8, and played a video of the car crashing into a truck during the launch event.
According to official introductions, the i8 model was tested at a speed of 61 km/h, which is 1.75 times the national safety test standard, with a bottom obstacle intact. After the front-on collision (100 km/h), side collision, and truck test, the A-pillar, B-pillar, C-pillar, and door frame remained unchanged, all nine airbags opened, the battery pack was leak-free, and the doors automatically unlocked.
In the crash test video, the Ideal i8 car model and truck collided, with the truck's four wheels lifting off the ground, and the driver's room and rear cargo compartment appearing significantly separated. This test sparked controversy on the internet, and netizens discovered that the truck brand was Longteng Card.
After the launch event, some netizens went to the official Douyin account of Longteng Card and left comments, with some suggesting, "Why don't you buy an i8 and simulate a crash test, live-streaming it online?"
Facing netizen questions, the Longteng Card official Douyin replied that their legal department is handling the matter. The official account also responded by saying, "I got played, smart people can see through it." "I don't know what's behind this, but I think it would be like this in real-life crashes."
In response to this issue, Ideal Automobile stated that the i8 and truck collision experiment was based on realistic traffic scenarios, with all rights delegated to professional third-party testing institutions. The test site, equipment, and market-purchased test trucks were all provided by the testing institution.
Ideal Automobile stated that the i8 underwent two collisions, first colliding with a truck weighing approximately 8 tons at a speed of over 100 tons of instantaneous force, and then collided from the side at a speed of over 80 tons of instantaneous force. After the two collisions, the A-pillar, B-pillar, C-pillar, and door frame remained unchanged, all nine airbags opened, the battery pack was leak-free, and the doors automatically unlocked.
